About Akhenaton Thomas
Akhenaton Thomas was born and raised in Detroit, MI, and moved to Tallahassee, FL in 2006 to begin his college career at Tallahassee Community College. He completed his education at Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, a Master's of Public Administration, and a Master's certification in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Akhenaton's professional career started off with an internship in the office of the City Manager under the administration of Anita Favors and has included working under two Mayoral Administrations as the Administrative Coordinator. Akhenaton led the 1000 Mentors Initiative where he brought together several mentoring organizations for a recruitment effort signing up many people to become mentors through one of the partnering mentoring agencies and was the representative in Tallahassee for My Brother’s Keeper initiative during President Obama’s term.

Currently, he serves as the Aide to City Commissioner Curtis Richardson and served as the Campaign Manager for Curtis Richardson’s successful re-election bid in 2020. Beyond his professional career, Akhenaton invests his time in public speaking, focusing on themes like Black History, Leadership, and Personal Development. His civic engagement encompasses active participation in organizations such as Progressive Black Men., Inc., Worshipful Master of Mt. Olive Lodge #5 Freemasons Prince Hall Affiliated, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Mentor in Omega Lamplighters, Past President of the National Pan Hellenic Council, Alumni of New Leaders Council Class 7 and Choose Tallahassee.
